East Peoria is a small city in central Illinois. It is positioned on the banks of the Illinois River in Tazewell County. East Peoria is in the Peoria Metropolitan Area and located about 3 miles east of downtown Peoria, the 7th largest city in Illinois. According to the United States Census Bureau, East Peoria had a population of approximately 22,939 people in 2016.

East Peoria is in a region of Illinois that was inhabited by Native American Indians before peoples of European descent settled in the area. In the mid-1800s, a community known as Bluetown was platted by Joseph Schertz. Bluetown became known as Hilton in 1869. Hilton and another community that was known as Coleville became incorporated under the same name in 1884. About 5 years later, the community became incorporated as the Village of East Peoria. In 1919, the village was changed to the City of East Peoria.

Modern-day East Peoria is a charming city. There are many popular attractions in the city like the Par-A-Dice Hotel Casino. The Par-A-Dice features slot and table games and a five-star restaurant. Other attractions in East Peoria are Bennett's Terraqueous Gardens, Fondulac Park West, and Peoria Lake.
